10 days left until Halloween! Not much time if you are making your own costume. We have been tinkering with ours for 2 weeks already, and are not done yet (1 done, 1 halfway done), but we will be done this weekend. However, if you have not started yet, there is still plenty of time to make an original costume: Rey is one of the easiest Star Wars characters to improvise with things you already have at home.
At our last May the Fourth Party we had 4 different Reys – all simple, all different, all wonderful. I bet after a survey of your closet, and maybe a quick trip to Target or Jo-Ann, you be able make something equally fun. Use our M4P friends’ ideas in the picture above for inspiration!
Now, if want to make an absolutely realistic, cosplay Rey costume (and you can dedicate most of the next 10 days), I recommend going to emeraldB’s blog.
She has the best cosplay Rey outfit and tutorials I have seen. There is a separate tutorial for all the different parts – and they are all amazing! Even if you aren’t planning on making a detailed costume like this, I recommend you check it out. The pictures are fun to look at, and there are some fabulous tips that can be used for other costumes.

Thanks again for the link! What I need now is a tutorial for Rey’s hair. I’ve yet to master this aspect but the hair in your M4P photo looks like they have it.

My pleasure! Your Rey costume is fantastic! As far as the hair, some at the party just had 3 buns back to back – pretty simple stuff. The other did it with each bun “wrapped”. I remember seeing that on a youtube video, where a woman did each bun with hair wrapping around each bun, Pretty fancy stuff. Good Luck!
