I was going to post this tomorrow, as our tradition is to post a new Star Wars Party character every May 4th. However, as we mourn Peter Mayhew’s passing yesterday, I wanted to share a quick story about when I met him just a few weeks ago.
Our whole family went to get Mr. Mayhew’s autograph late afternoon on Saturday of the Star Wars Celebration Chicago 2019. It was the very first autograph I have ever stood in line for, and the first Star Wars actor/actress any of us had ever met. Mr. Mayhew had cancelled earlier in the Celebration due to illness, and we were so thrilled that he was there when we had our ticket to get an autograph. When it was our turn, our kids (heck, who am I kidding, me and the hubby too) were in awe of seeing such a legend. We told him how much we admire his work. He didn’t really say anything in return, signed our poster, gave us a little smile and that was it. On to the next person. We could tell he was extremely uncomfortable, but we were so incredibly grateful that he still took the time out for his fans!
The next person in line was a gentleman who brought an amazing full Chewbacca mask. I am assuming that he had made it himself, and he showed it to Mr. Mayhew with such pride. He lit up when he saw it, and for a precious minute Mr. Mayhew was animated, pointing, talking, and making a big fuss about the mask. The young gentleman was beaming!!! I could only imagine how he felt, and am so excited for him at the joyful story he now can tell.
So to the man who made Mr. Mayhew smile when he was tired… THANK YOU!
To Mr. Mayhew who have given us so much joy… We Celebrate You!

As always, we ask you not to make and sell these. A, because LucasFilm Ltd. and Disney owns the rights to all characters, and B, because we made the designs and it would be unfair for you to make money off them. We also we want to remind you that we should get credit when the patterns are used. So, if you show your work using our designs anywhere (online as well), put a “Pattern © Anette Nam Design” and link to “Maythefourthbewithyouparty.com” somewhere close by. THANK YOU!

Needed:
- Black T-shirt
- Silhouette Cameo Cutting Machine
(or X-acto Knife if you are doing it by hand)
- Silhouette Cameo Smooth Heat Transfer
(White, Lime Green, Blue, Orange & Grey)
- Chewbacca May the Fourth be with you party Tshirt pattern (download pdf here)
- Iron
- Thin Cotton Fabric (such as sheet or pillowcase)
- X-acto Knife
How To:
- Down-load the pattern below.
- Load and convert the pdf to a dxf file, and reverse the image.
- Cut out on Cameo. (There are lots and lots of great You Tube tutorials on how to use your Cameo to cut out vinyl, so I will not get into how to use the machine here.) OR print out on printer, place on vinyl and cut through both paper and vinyl layers by hand (NOT the clear plastic layer).
- Weed the vinyl sheet (get rid of all the unwanted little pieces). I find an X-acto knife is best for this.
- Close cut the shapes, so there is just a little bit of the sticky clear plastic around each piece.
- Lay them out (sticky side down) on the T-shirt, cover with cotton fabric, and iron for about a minute (on cotton setting, with no steam).
- Carefully peel the clear plastic off.
- Let cool for a while.
