Bazine Netal is only on the screen for a few seconds, but visually she is one of the most striking characters in The Force Awakens. Her almost Op-Art-y outfit makes her just pop off the screen. So we were just so thrilled when one of our guests dressed up as Bazine for the 2016 May the Fourth be with You Party.
Of course it was especially appreciated that one of the sweetest people you will ever meet dressed up as one of the most sneaky and villainous new Star Wars characters.

(And in case you need a brush up on who Bazine is, she is the mercenary and spy who informed the First Order that our heroes [with BB-8 in tow], had showed up in Maz Kanats’s castle on Takodana.)

Needed:
- Black and White Geometric Fabric
(enough to make a simple no-sew tunic. 2.5 yards for an adult should do)
This specific fabric was from JoAnn, but I can not find it online. - Black Duct Tape
- Black Ski Mask
- Black Leggings
- Women’s Black Boots
- Women’s Black Belt
- Toy Dagger
How To:
The beauty of this “DIY” costume is that there is not a lot of DIY… (and you probably have most of these things laying about the house already…. If you follow this blog, I am sure you even have a plastic dagger and black duct tape at home 🙂 )
No-Sew Tunic:
- Fold the fabric in half.
- Cut to size, and make sure all edges are straight and clean.
(Leave folded side intact!) - Cut a hole for the head on the folded edge.
- By layering black duct tape strips onto each other, make a duct tape “sheet” on a self-healing cutting mat. (Size to fit your tunic.)
- Cut the jagged edges with an X-acto knife, and if needed cut out the shape of the hole for the head. (It might be a good idea to measure and draw pattern on first, OR make a paper template)
- Carefully peel it up and attach it securely to the fabric.
- Repeat for the back side of the tunic. (Optional)
- If needed, hide any imperfections or holes with more duct tape.
Make-up:
- Start with the black nail polish.
- Draw black eyebrows with a eyeliner or eyebrow pencil. You can also use eyeshadow or costume make-up.
- Use burgundy lipstick to complete the “look.”
Tips:
We A-L-W-A-Y-S use TOY weapons for our costumes (Lightsabers excepted).
Dollar Stores are usually great places to find small plastic swords or blasters.
Make sure they are clearly marked as toys (with bright colors and markings) And I cannot stress this enough, NEVER, EVER, EVER… E-V-E-R walk outside with fake weapons of any kind. You might think it is obvious that it is a fake, but it might not be obvious to everyone else!

- Black Ski Mask
- Black and White Geometric Fabric

BTW, You are fast 🙂 I am having problems with Facebook always choosing secondary photos, so I usually remove all photos except the main one when I post, then edit the post to add them others back in. So now you can see the back and reference photos as well.
