Despite my cheese carving endeavors, I have never been much of a pumpkin carver. We do the basic monster faces every year, and even that is under some protest on my part. Having spent countless hours playing with the kids and their Darth Tater, I am however, really good at sticking plastic arms and legs into fake produce.
So we were really excited when Jedi Master Heidi brought these Star Wars pumpkins for the party a few years ago. They make great center-pieces and decorations. And if like me, you really don’t like the feel of cold pumpkin innards (which feel a lot like cold taun-taun guts, if you ask me), they can also be used for Halloween.
- Paint your pumpkin either beige or black.
- Insert the plastic bits.
- Admire your handy work!

Ahhhh! I love these! I just watched the Empire Strikes Back with my daughter last night. She’s only 7 months old but I figure you gotta start them early. lol 🙂
Thanks, I’m thrilled you like them! We started out kids pretty early on the movies too; first the “safe” parts, then more and more as they got older. The oldest one only has episode III left now – that one is really scary for kids.

Yeah at this point it doesn’t really make any sense to her but she likes R2’s and Chewie’s noises. In a few months I won’t be able to get away with it. lol
Someone posted “Ewoks: the Battle for Endor” on Youtube. It’s really good to show your kids, especially daughters because it has a female lead. Even though the film has death in it, it also has a scene that talks about grief and loss in a sensitive manner.
Thanks for the tip. We will have to check it out.
