(Mild spoilers) When the previews of The Force Awakens came out I thought that our original X-Wing pattern was going to be close enough to use for The Force Awakens as well. Oops, my bad! The design is close-ish. Without getting too technical, the wings are slightly different, the engines now split in 2, and the proportions are a bit different. Well, I just got the new Force Awakens X-Wing Miniature Game for Christmas! I must have been pretty good last year after all. And our son who is absolutely crazy about anything that flies, got a matching set from Micro Machines. This post will review the Force Awakens Set; compare the ships to the Original X-Wing Miniatures Game, as well as the Micro Machines set; and also discuss the topic of collectability.
(Some mild spoilers) I hate movie previews, mostly because I hate hate hate spoilers. I was scared that the previews of The Force Awakens was going to reveal too much information, just like most other previews, for most other movies. However, I really have to hand it to JJ Abrams – not only did he not reveal much before hand, some of the stuff we though we knew from seeing the previews, turned out to be wrong. Yet, I don’t feel the least bit tricked.
