My husband doesn’t know it yet, but he is going to be a Wookiee when he takes the kids trick-or-treating this Halloween. (Surprise Honey!) Since trick-or-treating really is for the kids, we adults usually don’t dress, up – other than some nominal Star Wars gear. I usually wear my Yoda Hat, and the hubby carries a light saber, and maybe his Jedi robe (Adult Jedi costume post to come, I promise). This year though, I bought him a Wookiee Jacket to wear. But promise not to tell him, I wouldn’t want him to get too disappointed if I decide to keep it for myself…

Wedge Antilles Perler Bead Coaster
I had big plans. We were going to be X-Wing pilots for this year’s May the Fourth Party. But plans change. And this time for the better! Instead of making costumes, I have had the pleasure of being part of a big, exciting, creative project of a different sort. It is super secret as of right now, but I will talk about it on my post this Friday!! (Be sure to tune in!)
So, in lieu of our own gear, I am featuring Wedge for our weekly Perler/cross-stitch/Lego/pixel/mosaic pattern.
Tusken Raider (Sand Person) Perler Bead Coaster
You know how you can look at something a thousand times, and still not really see it? Once of the most amazing things about creating, is that it gives you the opportunity to really see something. I obviously had seen Sand people in the movies – lots of times; we even had a Tuskan Raider family at one of our parties (fantastic costumes – post to come!), but I still was really surprised when I sat down to make the pixelated pattern for the Sand people. I simply had never noticed the intricacies of the mask. And I had no idea that they were not allowed to show any part of the skin – I had always assumed this nomadic race used them as a protection against the elements. Of all the pixel patterns, I actually think this was the most fun to make.

Han Solo Perler Bead Coaster
I watched Star Wars for the first time when I was in college. I had seen bits and pieces before, but college was the first time I got to watch all 3 movies, together, in all their gloriousness. My biggest take-away at the time was…. the biggest crush ever on Han Solo. sigh. (a moment while I sit here and reminisce)
Millennium Falcon Perler Bead Coaster
Blogging is hard work. No, I take that back. Blogging is something I do for fun, but that does not always make it easy. And today I am stuck. My mind is totally blank. I can’t come up with anything interesting to say about the Millennium Falcon. (It’s terrible!) So here is what I will do: I am going to give you a link to someone who always has something interesting to say about the iconic ship…

Ahsoka Perler Bead Coaster
Ahsoka has been in the news a lot lately. Being the fan-mom of a fan-girl, I am just thrilled! There has also bee a bit of an uproar about the lack of female Rebels toys and the omission of Leia in the new Star Wars figure set. This not only sad for ALL the fans, but a incredibly puzzling marketing decision on the part of the toy manufacturers. It’s like they don’t want to make money!
