Darth Vader Piñata

Episode V, Degobah, the Forest, by the Tree Cave:

LUKE: What’s in there?
YODA: Only what you take with you.
Luke looks warily between the tree and Yoda. He starts to strap on his weapon belt.
YODA:  Your weapons…you will not need them
Luke gives the tree a long look, then shakes his head “no.”
Yoda shrugs.
Luke reaches up to brush aside some hanging vines and enters the tree.

Luke must have known he would need his lightsaber… because Darth Vader’s helmet was filled with…CANDY!?!

Make a blue lightsaber bopper, be like Luke, and get a good whack at Darth.

Needed:

  • Darth Vader Piñata
  • Candy
  • Rope
  • Lightsaber Bopper (instructions to come)/Lightsaber Baseball Bat

Tips:

Most piñatas these days are pull piñatas, but it really is a lot more fun hitting them.  An old baseball bat painted blue, with a silver duct tape hilt will work beautifully.  We made lightsabers “Boppers”, and we will post instructions on how to make those soon.   I don’t recommend using your store-bought lightsabers, I’m pretty sure they would break before the piñata.

We couldn’t have our party outdoors, so we had 2 big guys hold the piñata up, but it would certainly be easier to just hang it from a big branch.

They also sell Millenium Facon Piñatas – but I think the Darth Vader is much funnier.  Now, if someone would just make a Jedi Training Orb piñata – that would be perfect! Maybe we will make our own…

Speaking of making your own… Greatfun4kids has instructions on how to make your own right here: How to make an Easy Darth Vader Piñata

Lastly, I just want to include this image because I just LOVE this piñata.  It makes me smile.  This is from the Star Wars Collectors Archive Database, photo by Pamela Green.
