I had big plans. We were going to be X-Wing pilots for this year’s May the Fourth Party. But plans change. And this time for the better! Instead of making costumes, I have had the pleasure of being part of a big, exciting, creative project of a different sort. It is super secret as of right now, but I will talk about it on my post this Friday!! (Be sure to tune in!)

So, in lieu of our own gear, I am featuring Wedge for our weekly Perler/cross-stitch/Lego/pixel/mosaic pattern.

Mos Eisleys Cantina (DIY Beverage station)

Star Wars Food: Downloadable Chalmun's Cantina sign (Mos Eisley) /// Check out our blog for lots of Star Wars Party food recipes and downloadable labels! Great for a Birthday Party or a May the Fourth be with you Party. /// #starwars #starwarsparty #maythefourthbewithyou #starwarsbirthday #starwarsfood #chalmunscantina #moseisly #tatooine maythefourthbewithyoupartyblog.com

No proper Star Wars party should be without a Star Wars Cantina or Chalmun’s Cantina, as it is actually called.  Cos-play can be serious work, and lots of costumes are really warm (just ask my daughter after wearing her Chewie costume for 4 hours).  So you need to make sure your guests are well hydrated.  Just promise that all lightsabers are checked at the entrance – we suspect all your guests will want to leave with all their limbs intact.

A Spoonful of Star Wars! (DIY Bith Band Centerpiece)

Spoon Cantina Band (Bith Band) Centerpiece // Check out our blog for lots more Star Wars crafts and decor. // #starwars #starwarsparty #maythefourthbewithyou #starwarsbirthday #centerpiece #cantinaban #bith maythefourthbewithyoupartyblog.com

Lots of people like Sci-Fi in small doses. Not us! Star Wars in big, giant wood-ladle-sized servings for us, please.

Jedi Master Heidi’s case in point: She put her mad craft skills to use and made this too-funny centerpiece for our Mos Eisley’s Cantina (post to come this Friday).  She used the wood spoon Bith (from the awesome book: The Star Wars Craft Book by Bonnie Burton), and designed a centerpiece that is (Star Wars) music to our ears.

You know how you can look at something a thousand times, and still not really see it?  Once of the most amazing things about creating, is that it gives you the opportunity to really see something.  I obviously had seen Sand people in the movies – lots of times; we even had a Tuskan Raider family at one of our parties (fantastic costumes – post to come!), but I still was really surprised when I sat down to make the pixelated pattern for the Sand people. I simply had never noticed the intricacies of the mask. And I had no idea that they were not allowed to show any part of the skin – I had always assumed this nomadic race used them as a protection against the elements.  Of all the pixel patterns, I actually think this was the most fun to make.

Monkey Wants a Tauntaun!

Knitted Taun-Taun with ThinkGeek Monkey /// Check out our blog for lots of Star Wars crafts and ideas /// #starwars #starwarsparty #maythefourthbewithyou #starwarsbirthday #luke #tauntaun #knitting maythefourthbewithyoupartyblog.com ©mara's things https://maramas.wordpress.com/2011/07/09/this-post-smells-even-worse-on-the-inside/

One would think that stuffed monkeys do not NEED Star Wars costumes.  And one would be wrong.  I know that M4P friend Amy (maker-of-all-art-things extraordinaire) would certainly object to that statement, so Amy, this one is for you!

This brilliant creation by Mara Saxer at the blog Mara’s Things has everything a curious monkey could want: ear protection (to protect its ears if it makes too much noise), icky gooey tauntaun innards, and goggles to protect oneself while playing with said innards…and style. Monkeys have style!
