Never mind the mere 7 weeks until Christmas. Today, there are exactly 6 months until May the Fourth!!  So maybe a “Happy May the Fourth be with You and a half” is in order…

This made me realize that there are patterns and downloads we promised to post, and just never got to.  So lets try to get through our backlog, shall we!  And since we are already talking about May 4th, lets start with another one of our popular “May the Fourth be with You Party” shirt designs.

If you want to make more shirts, we have already posted the patterns for our M4P C-3PO shirt, Stormtrooper shirt and Darth Maul shirt.  And eventually, I will also post the  AT-AT and R2-D2 shirts, I promise!

Needed:

• Black T-shirt
• Silhouette Cameo Cutting Machine (or X-acto Knife if you are doing it by hand)
• Silhouette Cameo Smooth Heat Transfer (Lime Green, Blue, Dark Pink & Yellow)
• Yoda – May the Fourth be with You Party – T-shirt pattern (pdf file)
• Iron
• Thin Cotton Fabric (such as sheet or pillowcase)
• X-acto Knife

How To:

1. Down-load the pattern below.
2. Load pdf file on computer, and reverse the image.
3. Cut out on Cameo.  (There are lots and lots of great You Tube tutorials on how to use your Cameo to cut out vinyl, so I will not get into how to use the machine here.)  OR print out on printer, place on vinyl and cut through both paper and vinyl layers by hand (NOT the clear plastic layer).
4. Weed the vinyl sheet (get rid of all the unwanted little pieces), I find an X-acto knife is best for this.
5. Close cut the shapes, so there is just a little bit of the sticky clear plastic around each piece.
6. Lay them out (sticky side down) on the T-shirt, cover with cotton fabric, and iron for about a minute (on cotton setting, with no steam).
7. Carefully peel the clear plastic off.
8. Let cool for a while.

Tips:

So far washing the shirts have not been a problem.  I turn them inside out and wash in cold delicate, and dry on a flat surface.

Some of the heat transfer material works better than others.  So far I have only used the Silhouette brand, but there still seems to be a big difference from color to color (or maybe it is between the manufacturing batches). So far my black transfer material was really hard to work with – I had to iron for about 10 minutes to get it to stick.  All others were really easy to use.
