I have admit I have not read any of the Star Wars books, so I am not very familiar with the Canon parts of Star Wars.  So when the Cartoon Network’s Clone Wars shorts came out, I was thrilled by a (to me) totally new character!  Sure, she was kinda evil, but she had style, panache and she kicked butt!

Pink Vader (DIY Girl Vader Costume)

DIY Pink Girl Darth Vader and Yoda Costumes. Check out all our other Star Wars costumes on our blog! #yoda #darthvader #starwars #starwarsparty #maythefourthbewithyou #starwarsbirthday #starwarscostume #halloweencostume #cosplay maythefourthbewithyoupartyblog.com

Star Wars fandom proposes some problems for girls.  The majority of characters are male of course, but more importantly just about all official licensed merchandising is geared towards boys. (Marketing people at Disney, take note, there is a vast untapped market here!)  Having a daughter who likes Star Wars, AND pink girly things, can create a bit of a challenge when it comes to Star Wars costumes.  But being a firm believer in creative liberties, and personal expressions – as well as being the owner of a several cans of pink spray paint, we went to work.  10 minutes of work, and wait time about the time it took to watch 3 Clone Wars episodes, we had the perfect Pink Vader costume.

Oops, I did it again! (Bantha Milk Pancakes)

Star Wars Food: Bantha Milk Pancakes (TIE-Fighter, Darth Vader, X-Wing, Millennium Falcon, and Yoda Shaped) /// Check out our blog for lots of Star Wars Party food recipes and downloadable labels! Great for a Birthday Party or a May the Fourth be with you Party. /// #starwars #starwarsparty #maythefourthbewithyou #starwarsbirthday #starwarsfood #pancakes #banthamilk #tieighter, #darthvader #xwing #millenniumfalcon #yoda maythefourthbewithyoupartyblog.com

They sure did not look pretty, but what can be more fun than making Star Wars pancakes with Bantha milk?

The kids had a snow day not too long ago.  As a working parent it is both a treat to get to stay home with the kids on a weekday (sleep in, yeay!!), and a scramble to juggle working from home with them around.  This time around, fun won out.  Upon the kids insistence, we made pancakes.  But not just any pancakes – we made Bantha milk pancakes.  We have tried to use the Star Wars shapes before, and it didn’t work.  And I have to admit, it didn’t go well this time either.  They didn’t turn out very Star Wars-shaped.  The color was more greenish than blue.  And trying to pry a Millennium Falcon out of its mold, I sorta burnt the others.  But, you know what?  They were made with love and lots of laughter and tasted GREAT, so I still call it a success!

What does Star Wars Smell Like? (DIY Star Wars Soaps)

DIY Darth Vader Soaps (from Silicone Molds) /// Check out our blog for lots of Star Wars Party crafts and ideas /// #starwars #starwarsparty #maythefourthbewithyou #starwarsbirthday #darthvader #soap maythefourthbewithyoupartyblog.com

When our son was about 2.5 he asked me “What does Star Wars smell like?”  Now, it happens that I actually do not have a sense of smell, so I would not be able to answer a questions about what ANYTHING smells like.  But since I cry when I chop onions, I sneeze when someone wears too much perfume, and cough when I burn the chicken, I at least have some vague concept that different things smell differently.  Still, I was WAY out of my depth on the smell of Star Wars (though we have all heard about the Tauntauns stinking).  So, we asked dad (who is THE Star Wars expert in our family, and has an exceptional olfactory system to boot), but he had no idea either.

Han Solo Dark Chocolates with Soy Butter

My favorite things (not in any particular order):  family, friends, God, Puccini, cheese, Christmas trees, Star Wars, and chocolate.  They are even better when combined: a cheese party with friends, seeing Tosca with the hubby, the Christmas display at Church…. and now, eating Star Wars chocolates!!!
