Today, I learned a new phrase (from wookieepedia) that I think I will use often:
Blue Milk Run.
It is used when explaining something that should be super simple. Bantha milk was easily available all over the galaxy, and going to pick some up was never a problem, so among military personnel the phrase came to mean an easy mission. Kyle Katarn tells Jaden Korr about the Mission to Tatooine: This should be a total blue milk run, kid. But it’ll give you a chance to pick up some negotiating skills. Let’s head to Tatooine.
Bantha milk is also by far the most recognizable food from the movies. EVERYONE knows about Bantha milk (even casual Star Wars watchers). It is of course easy to make (I mean, making it, is a Blue Milk Run. Very Meta!), but it tastes surprisingly weird. Something about the color, it just doesn’t seem right, having said that, no Star Wars party would be complete without it.
Needed:
- Whole Milk
- Cup
- Spoon
- Blue Food Coloring
- Pitcher
How To:
- Mix a few drops (beads if you use gel) of food coloring in a small amount of milk in a cup, that way you can control the intensity of the color better – and easier work out any chunks of the gel.
- Pour mixture into the pitcher with milk, a little at a time until you get a color you like.
- Pour a glass, and make sure you protect you table with one of our Perler coasters!
Get Supplies:
- Tuscan Whole Milk, 1 Gallon, 128 fl oz
(For those who are not familiar with this, it is an Amazon product with plentiful and funny reviews. Definitely worth a peek!)
Lastly, here is a great T-shirt design from montygog at teepublic.com. They got the light blue just right!
Here is their fabulous description: From a galaxy far, far away straight to your kitchen • Moisture Farm Raised • Grade A • Homogenized • Pasteurized • Vitamin A & D and midi-chlorians enriched
