One of the biggest complaints about the original Star Wars trilogy is that the Stormtroopers can’t shoot. No, let me take that back, they can shoot… they just couldn’t hit the side of a barn if their lives depended on it (which, of course, it often does). Looking back though, it is also one of the (many) things that makes the series so fun and special.

Even More DIY Star Wars Banners
The most popular post this year has been our 2nd Star Wars Banner post. It is really nice to get such positive feedback on the pieces we do! 🙂 THANKS GUYS!! So I am thinking it would be a good idea to post the patterns for the last of the 3 banners we have made so far… while you still have time to make it for the big party. You ARE throwing a May the Fourth be with You Party, right?
Clone Trooper (Rex) Perler Pixel Pattern
Rebels is a REALLY good TV show (the season 2 finale was fantastic!), but I have to admit I still miss Clone Wars (BOTH series). Perhaps this is because the 2 Clone Wars were darker than Rebels has been up to this point… (which is probably why I thought the scary season finale of Rebels was so awesome). The best 3 characters to come out of Clone Wars are Ahsoka, Asajj Ventress and of course CT-7567 (Rex) – and our whole family is thrilled that 2 of those characters are back in Rebels.
DIY Lightsaber Hilt Napkin Rings (Part 2)
Today, we are doing a simpler version of the Lightsaber Hilt Napkin Rings. This easier version requires less time, less mess, and less sharp tools… but is just as much fun to make…maybe even more so. ‘Cuz who doesn’t enjoy doing crafts with paper towel rolls and Duct tape 🙂
Jar Jar’s “Mesa” Soup (Miso Soup)
Actual conversation in our house, the day The Force Awakens opened…
My 4-year-old son (dressed in Darth Vader jacket): Yoda!!! Darth Vader is Hungry!!!!!!
Me (wearing my Yoda hat): What would Darth Vader like to eat?
My son: I dunno what Darth Vader eats, but Jar Jar eats Mesa soup.
I really wish I could take credit for that joke. I wish I could take credit for coming up with “Mesa soup“. But alas, my 4-year-old son, came up with both all by himself. I have to say I was a pretty proud.
DIY Lightsaber Hilt Napkin Rings (Part 1)
I have mentioned before that my mom (“M4P Mom”), regularly calls with ideas for the blog. Unfortunately, she has more ideas than we have time. What we really need are some Minions to keep up. (Where are Bob, Kevin, and Stewart when we need them?)
So we have to prioritize – and doing these Lightsaber Hilt Napkin Rings were a no-brainer. I think this is one of the coolest things we have done in a long time, here at May the Fourth Central.
